Putting the right keywords in the search engines is already a good start to find the necessary information. It doesn't mean you don't need books anymore but Internet add a certain value to the information students get at school. It is even impossible to imagine any education today without Internet use. Almost every school has some computers which has access to Internet and students can use these computers for research which may help them to make their daily tasks.
It is not only a source of information but you can also follow some online courses which may benefit your knowledge about a certain course. Maybe you need to learn a certain language; you can follow these courses online and even hear how to pronounce all the letters. In the past you needed CD's where you could listen and practice the right pronunciation. If you have a speaker and an audio program installed on your computer, you can easy follow the instructions. You will get tasks and you can send them by email.
Internet is not only a source of information for students. It is also used for communication with other students and even professors. There are several kinds of education where you need to consult a certain protected Internet page to know your daily tasks and even the date and hour when the courses take place. Many universities also announce the moment when the examinations take place.
Facebook and other networking sites are popular between students to share knowledge. They may also use some messaging services of the Internet, for example Yahoo Messenger, Windows Live Mail messenger, Gmail etc. which allow chatting between students. They can discuss their education stuff with other students and they save time because they otherwise have to search a place where they can study together and discuss items.
The Internet is certainly useful for education but you may come different Internet sites which contain information which is not correct or not up-to date. It is important to check different sites to know if they use information which will be useful. Internet has certainly some disadvantages. It is always best every student search the information they need but lazy students will ask links of these sites to their friends and may not known their stuff very well.
An important issue is also Plagiarism. Students perform their daily tasks but it is possible they use the same words as written in some Internet sites. Professors may notice similar results of tasks and need to check if they didn't plagiarism some Internet sites or that they just copied their own work.
Email is certainly an advantage of Internet use in school. Every student can reach other students by email and even the professor can be consulted. It is impossible to imagine a world with education without use of Internet. The effect of the Internet is in most cases positive because the wealth of information but it is important that parents control their children that they don't use inappropriate sites. Internet will often improve the quality of education but it is always possible students don't use their time efficient.
